Family & Consumer Sciences


The Family & Consumer Science program at Bethel High School is divided into two areas of study: Culinary Arts and Child Development. Coursework in the Culinary Arts program is available to students in grades 11 & 12. Child Development coursework is newly open to all grades 9-12!

The Child Development program:

In Child Development 1 & 2, high school students have the
opportunity to work with young children in a variety of settings:Image

Little Wildcats Preschool - students will learn how to plan, develop, and implement preschool appropriate lesson plans in order to assist in running the preschool program geared towards 3 & 4 year old children in the Bethel Area

Morning Stars- students will participate in the morning care program for Berry and Rockwell school children in grades k-3. Students will engage with and plan activities for the elementary children.

The Culinary Arts program:


During Culinary Arts I, students learn how to cook healthy meals for a family, operate the basic tools within a kitchen while learning to function within a cooperative group environment.

B. Students who successfully complete Culinary Arts 1 may continue in the more advanced Culinary Arts II. In this class students move into learning more about the the culinary field as a career, including basic food prep techniques, procedures and equipment, while operating the Wildcat Cafe.
