French Curriculum

Traditionally, French has been considered the language of culture and international relations. In the 18th and 19th centuries, French supplanted Latin as the language of diplomacy. French culture and language extend to other parts of the world including Canada, Africa, and portions of Central and South America. The French have influences world literature, cuisine, art, music, and of course, fashion.

The Bethel High French curriculum offers two tracks for students: honors and college preparatory.

HONORS FRENCH: Those students taking the honors track will participate in Pre-AP activities and assignments; they will move at a faster pace and complete more units of study. This track is recommended for the highly motivated student.

COLLEGE PREP FRENCH: Those students who take the college preparatory track will improve their communication skills in the French language but they will not move at the same pace as their peers in the honors program. Students in this track will not be recommended for AP French.

For more detailed course information, see the Program of Studies.

PLEASE NOTE:

--If a student would like to change his/her pathway moving up or down a level, it is imperative that the student receives approval from his/her teacher.
