Precalculus 31
Full Year (two semesters) 1 Credit
Prerequisites: Algebra II 31, Plane Geometry 21 and teacher recommendation
Course Description:
Precalculus 31 has been designed for juniors planning to take AP
Calculus in their senior year. Students study the same concepts
presented in precalculus 42, but to a greater depth and at a more
intensive pace. Following that study, students learn graphing techniques
for circular, transcendental, and polynomial functions. Students work
with matrices, vectors, and statistics. They are introduced to
traditional precalculus topics including limits and rate of change.
Precalculus 42
Full Year (two semesters) 1 Credit
Prerequisites: Successful completion of Algebra II
Course Description:
Precalculus is an extension of Algebra II. Students study fundamental
operations of factoring and rational expressions, exponents and
radicals, graphic equations, ratio, proportion and variation,
progressions and inequalities in greater depth. They also study complex
numbers, families of functions including exponential and logarithmic
functions, determinants, theory of equations, permutations and
combinations, vectors, parametric and polar equations.
