Plane Geometry 21
Full Year (Two semesters) 1 Credit
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Algebra I (in middle school) or Algebra I 12 (90 average)
Course Description: This accelerated course is designed for identified students of high mathematical ability. Traditional geometric concepts are studied but with a wider scope, greater depth, and more intensive pace. Emphasis is placed on analytical thinking and employing intuitive, inductive, and deductive reasoning. Students are challenged to solve problems from various competitive tests and to complete projects.
Plane Geometry 22
Full Year (Two semesters) 1 Credit
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Algebra I 12
Course Description: Students use abstract concepts to develop methods of solving geometric problems. The basic concepts of point, line, and plane are expanded in relationships between lines, angles, triangles, and other polygons and circles. Congruency, inequality, and similarity are taught through various methods and students are introduced to logic and proof. Students are also introduced to the study of right triangle trigonometry and solid geometry.
