Math IV

Full Year (two semesters) 1 Credit

Prerequisite: Algebra II, Plane Geometry

Course Description: Students will reinforce and extend their proficiency in algebra topics in preparation for college entrance and college entrance tests. Topics in geometry and trigonometry will be included. Second semester work will focus on consumer applications students will need as they go on to college and life, such as, budgeting, credit cards, stocks, insurance, statistics and probability, and geometry for construction. Students use the ALEKS computer program in class periodically and at home to strengthen skills needed for courses in college mathematics.

Consumer Math 33

Full Year (two semesters) 1 Credit

Prerequisite: This course is not open to students who have passed Algebra ll

Course Description: In Consumer Math, students apply previously learned concepts and skills. Applications include savings and investments, home ownership, travel and transportation, commission, budgeting, stock market, and income tax. The objective of this course is

to develop the math and accuracy skills needed in students’ personal and business lives. Also, approval of the department chairperson and the student’s administrator is required for all students.

SAT Math 12 .5 Credit

Prerequisite: None

Course Description: This course focuses on the improvement of students’ mathematics scores on the Scholastic Aptitude Test. Students use SAT material to review concepts, skills and strategies needed for success. (This course does not count towards the 3-year math requirement.)
