Multivariable Calculus
Full Year (two semesters) 1 Credit
Prerequisite: Successful completion of AP Calculus BC
Course Description: Multivariable Calculus is a rigorous second-year course in college level calculus. This course provides study of vectors and the calculus of several variables for students who have successfully completed AP Calculus BC. Major topics will include vector operations and analysis, functions of two or more variables and their partial derivatives, and multiple integration.
AP Calculus BC
Full Year (two semesters) 1 Credit
Prerequisite: Precalculus 31 (A- average), Trigonometry
Course Description: This is a college level calculus course for mathematically able students who have demonstrated a sound understanding of elementary functions in addition to the college preparatory mathematics listed in the description of AP Calculus AB. The content of Calculus BC is designed to qualify the student for placement and credit one semester beyond that granted for Calculus AB. The course content is prescribed by the current College Board's Advanced Course Placement Description for Calculus BC. The topics for Calculus AB are covered at a similar conceptual level. Major additions to the content are infinite series and differential equations. The College Board Advanced Placement test given in May is required.
Successful completion of the AP exam qualifies students for two semesters' credits in Calculus or 8 credits at most colleges and universities. If students apply, the WCSU-Coop program also awards 8 college credits for successfully completing this full year course.
AP Calculus AB
Full Year (two semesters) 1 Credit
Prerequisite: Precalculus 31 (B- average), Trigonometry
Course Description: This Advanced Placement course will cover the two main branches of differential and integral calculus. Course content is prescribed by the current College Board's Advanced Placement Course Description for Calculus AB. Students work with algebraic, trigonometric and transcendental functions. The College Board Advanced Placement test given in May is required.
Successful completion of the AP exam qualifies students for one semester's credits in Calculus or 4 credits at most colleges and universities. If students apply, the WCSU-Coop program also awards 4 college credits for successfully completing this full year course.
Calculus 42
Full Year (two semesters) 1 Credit
Prerequisite: Precalculus (C- average) and Trigonometry
Course Description: Students will learn to solve two large classes of problems: 1) finding the derivative, that is, the rate at which a variable changes; and 2) integration, finding a function when the rate of change is known. Applications of the theory will be emphasized.
If students apply, the WCSU-Coop program awards 4 college credits for successfully completing this full year course.
